Ten Minute Self-Care Tips to Add to Your Routine

Think back to a few short years ago. We as a society were consistently putting ourselves on the backburner, climbing the ladder, and doing whatever it took to succeed, even if that came with a lack of sleep and boundaries. Our self-care since has become a priority and with that, having simple steps to take care of ourselves has come to the forefront. Below we will discuss a few simple, ten-minute self-care tips to add to your routine to better take care of yourself when you’re short on time!

Go for a Walk

No matter where you are or what situation you’re in, going for a walk is always beneficial as you’re not only able to change your state through being physically active, but you’re also able to clear your mind by changing your environment. Often, we get stressed and frustrated with our current circumstances, by going for a walk you can change what is currently going on and gain a new perspective by doing so. It doesn’t take long either, 10 minutes or the equivalent to a half-mile on average is all it takes!

Change Your Environment  

Just like going for a walk, changing the environment you’re in is one of the best things you can do to take care of yourself. It enables you to raise your self-awareness, reflect, and respond appropriately to the day you’re currently having. Outside of going for a walk, to change your environment you can light candles, burn sage and incense, or simply go to a different area of your space, create an area to relax in. This may sound like a simple change, but it makes a big difference!

Take a Shower or Bath 

Water is cleansing, by taking a ten-minute shower or bath you’re able to cleanse whatever stuck or negative energy is going on around you. To help with doing so, be sure to add in bath and body products such as a bath bomb, bath salts, or fragrant soaps. Not only will this activate some aromatherapy, but it will also calm and soothe your body or help you to feel refreshed and awake, depending on the ingredients. 

Drink Herbal Tea

A quick cuppa! This one has a plethora of benefits to it! Not only is it simple to make and consume within less than 10 minutes, but drinking herbal tea (depending on the kind and quality) can be life-changing! Herbal tea has the ability to heighten your focus, calm anxiety, increase the quality of sleep you’re having, improve digestion, and so much more! It doesn’t matter if you have it in the morning, mid-day, or evening, you’re sure to experience benefits beyond the intention of simply taking a breather.

Incorporate Journaling

It may sound simple, and it is! Journaling is one of the easiest ways to record your goals and accomplishments while also allowing you to process what got you to this current place in life. To begin, spend five minutes in the morning journaling about what your day will look like, and in the evening, take five minutes to write down three things you’re grateful for that occurred throughout your day. Of course, you’re able to write more than this, but this is a great place to begin if you only have 10 minutes!
